I don't understand why conservation has NEVER been mentioned. Walk the two blocks to take your kid to school, or walk to go to the store, turn off the lights when you leave a room....stuff like that.What is the fastest way to get people to stop using oil without alternative energy?
I doubt that there is any way to presently stop people from using oil, but the recent price increases have certainly caused many to cut back on their discretionary use of gas.
Carpooling or use public transit
Let the Democrats tax the crap out of it like they are doing in MN.
All people need to do is to give up all those toys; boats, ATVs, snowmobiles, motorcycles, etc. (I am referring to those who use these things just to run around in, not those who use them to go to work, etc.) All the U.S. needs to do to quit importing oil is to quit wasting.
Raise the price of gasoline
When they lose their jobs in the Bush depression they can sit home and starve. It will save lots of gas.
