Will Big Oil stop the economic recovery in the name of profit?

No rants about how the prices were higher before, that has nothing to do with the actual question. Will Big Oil stop the economic recovery in the name of profit?
You mean the economic recovery that last week ';only'; caused the loss of another 1/2 a million jobs? We aren't in a recovery yet. The stock market has just started coming back. A recovery requires the job losses to stop which the White House says will be some time next year.

I will believe that Big Oil is the problem when we can compare profits to taxes and the profits are bigger. Until then, the government has a bigger stake in oil's performance than the oil companies. Will Big Oil stop the economic recovery in the name of profit?
1) Define Big Oil. Do you mean the exploration and production companies? Refiners? Transportation companies? Traders? Wholesalers? Terminal Operators? Retailers?

2) However you define ';Big Oil,'; how do you propose that a group of companies in one industry has the power to stop an economic recovery?

3) Do you realize that in the oil industry, retail and wholesale margins decline when product prices increase?

4) Do you realize that commodity prices in general rise when the government inflates the currency, like it is doing right now? I.e., oil is up but so is gold, even though demand is down?

5) What economic recovery?

What economic recovery?

If you look at history, you will see that this ';recovery'; is similar to what happened in 1930. It didn't take long for the ';recovery'; to make things worse.

So no, big oil won't stop any recovery in the name of profits. It's counterproductive.
First off, what economic recovery? You need to stop listening to CNN!

Unemployment will go up for another year!

Secondly, we have not done anything to improve this situation from last summer like drill in America.

We all knew green energy was at least 5 years away from really happening.
What are you talking about? Big Oil plays no role in the economic crisis, or its recovery.
