Will cod liver oil help stop shedding for my dog?

Re-evaluate what you're feeding it first. Bad food = bad skin and coat and lots of shedding. Will cod liver oil help stop shedding for my dog?
ask your vet if the shedding is extreme or normal for your dog. if it is normal brush your dog at least 1x a day. this should be done anyway to help with the overall skin and coat. and there are vitamins and shampoos at pet supply stores to help with shedding. however, if you have a ';cold weather dog'; that's in the house alot and you hamper his shedding, he'll become uncomfortably warm. Will cod liver oil help stop shedding for my dog?
That will help, and if you have problems with diarrhea from it, sometimes a half capsule of acidophillus will counterract that.

Cod liver oil has a lot of great qualities, including being an anti-inflammatory. It's great stuff!

But shedding is triggered by the number of daylight hours, unless there is a problem skin condition with your dog. High quality dog food that they are not allergic to, and a god brushing will keep you out of trouble -and perhaps a Furminator?
No it wont stop the shedding it will imporve the coat condition for the new coat growing back in. It just may be the time of year your dog is supposed to shed. Or his all around health isnt great!

A check up at your vets is always a good place to start then if everything checks out ok then look at what your feeding your dog in the first place.

cod liver iol has a ton of Omega 3 fatty acids which are great for dogs but it given in the right amount. Too much and you have a dog with the runs too.

Start at your vets and go from there.

Good luck!
First, try a holistic food. Corn makes dogs shed a lot. Find one without it and your dog will be much happier.
