Wouldn't the ultimate stop to many global crises be the fall of crude oil as a necessary resource?

Am I the only one who feels it is not entirely absurd to say that the oil we buy pays for the people who keep trying to kill us? Just like diamonds in Sierra Leone, could oil be the one thing enabling terrorists to do what they do?Wouldn't the ultimate stop to many global crises be the fall of crude oil as a necessary resource?
The problem with your premise is that there has to be something to replace the fuel with. The diamonds are a luxury item - oil, and its derivatives, are necessary in today's world.

Look around - everything that is made with plastic, rubber, uses electricity, battery power, has circuitry, or is synthetic .... is made possible because of the various ways to use and process crude oil.

There are alternatives to using oil for power, and there are alternative sources for all the materials used for everything we have - but right now, the cost to use anything other than oil is prohibitive.

Great idea, great premise - but the foundation for making your premise workable is not yet there.Wouldn't the ultimate stop to many global crises be the fall of crude oil as a necessary resource?
Yes we could be off oil by tomorrow if we wanted but we'd have to give a lot up and people are too selfish to to that there is no over population of this planet if people didn't want to much space for there selves we as a nation could use thermal energy from volcanoes along with water i remember a man powering his car with water period still water salt water snow even but people who make up pricing say it's to expensive maybe it's cause they wouldn't profit from it greatly as they do with the other sources we use today am i the only person who sees this fact who says it's too expensive the elite how can people be so naive to buy this crap without acknowledging their greed as the true reasoning for them to make this proclamation it's almost like when tesla said we could use ac over dc but bell claimed no way it's to dangerous we need dc all a bunch of rich mans lies just like this claim about oil
No, the end of oil would not end worldwide crises. Obviously there are wealth issues that are far reaching, the concerns over drinkable water and overpopulation are unrelated to oil. And you are leaving out an important catalyst for war and hate: Religion.
