Should I stop taking fish oil if my periods are heavy?

I've always had heavy periods. I'm taking fish iol for 2 months now when i had my surgery last week the RN asked me to stop taking fisl oil before surgery because it thins the blood.Should I stop taking fish oil if my periods are heavy?
fish oil is so gross why in the hell would you want to take that??? it would get sick just off the smell. i would quit taking ti emidaitley.
