OK, sport I'll call your bluff. Two gas stations in your neighborhood. One sells gas refined only from U.S. oil. The other sells gas refined from foreign oil. The U.S. gas is $5 per gallon. The foreign stuff is $2,50 per gallon. Where do you pull in to fill up? Of course!!! You go to the U.S. station because you are an American patriot, right? Hell no, you go to the cheaper one. That's why we import foreign oil, because it makes sense to do so. Energy independence does not mean cheap energy.Would this be an appropriate day to declare our independence from foreign oil and stop using it?

No. I like using imported oil. They sell the oil to us for our Dollars. The dollars keep losing value. We get to use the oil. They get decreasing value money. It is a Great Bargain. Besides , in a few years we will be less dependent on oil as technology for alternative sources of energy become available. I wish you well !
If the entire country was to just stop using foreign oil today, it would cripple the country 1000 times worse than our dependency to it has created.
